Universal Fall Screening (AimsWeb) Grades K-10	Beginning of school year— Sept. 2 About 40 minutes total time	The purpose of the state mandated universal screening is to provide a data snapshot of a student’s current performance at three points during the school year and, in some cases, progress throughout the school year, in a variety of academic areas	Screening results are not typically distributed outside the school due to their formative nature, but parents can request the information from the school as needed. Results are not used for grades.
Optional Additional Universal Fall Screening (AimsWeb) Grades K- 10	Oct 8-12, 2018 About 40 minutes total time	See Universal Fall Screening (in August) for a description of this assessment. The optional screening provides additional information for students and is administered at the school’s discretion. PSAT / NMSQT Grades 9-11	Oct 22, 2018 165 minutes total time	The optional PSAT is the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test and provides a national benchmark for student achievement. Click here for College Board’s PSAT site.	Scores become available online through College Board in January. Paper reports are delivered to the schools for distribution soon after. Results are not used for grades.
Fall Semester Exams (Midterms) Grades 9-12 (course specific)	Dec 10-14, 2018 district semester exam window Time varies by exam, typically between 45-120 minutes total time	All district-mandated semester exams are teacher-constructed assessments and administered according to the school’s specific semester exam schedule.	Scores for these assessments are available on Skyward. Results are used as 25% of high school courses.
Universal Winter Screening (AimsWeb) Grades K-10	Jan 14-18, 2019 About 40 minutes total time	See Universal Fall Screening (in August) for a description of this assessment	See Universal Fall Screening (in August) for a description of how results from this assessment are made available.

ACCESS for ELLs Grades K-12 (English learner students only)	March 4 – April 22, 2019 state test administration Tests are untimed, but typically about 180 minutes total time	The state mandatedACCESS for ELLs assessment measures English language proficiency levels and is used as one criterion to determine when ELLs have attained the language proficiency needed to participate meaningfully in content area classrooms. Scores and other information from this assessment are delivered to the schools for distribution in August. Results are not used for grades.
TCAP Alternate Assessments (MSAA & Alt-PA) Grades 3-11 (select special education students only)	March 64– May 10, 2019 Tests are untimed, total time varies based on individual student needs	These state mandatedalternate assessments are for students with the most significant cognitive disabilities for whom participation in the regular state assessment is inappropriate, even with the use of extensive accommodations.	Scores and other information from this assessment are delivered to the schools for distribution. Results are not used for grades
Citizenship Assessment (Skyward) Grades 9-12	March 15 – May 24, 2019 About 30 minutes total time	Participating in the state mandated Citizenship Assessment is a graduation requirement for students in. It is administered to all students until the requirement is met.	Results are maintained in Skyward to document participation for graduation. The use of scores for grades is a building-level decision.
ACT Grade 11	April 11, 2019 state test administration 175 minutes total time	ACT is an achievement test that assesses students’ academic readiness for college. While this is a state mandated administration, participating on the ACT is a JCS graduation requirement. Click here for the ACT site	Like all ACT test administrations, scores are typically available online through ACT 2-4 weeks after testing. Other reporting is released soon after. Results are not used for grades

TNReady Summative Assessments for High School (EOC) Grades 9-11	April 22, 2019 (US History Writing) April 23, 2019 (ELA Writing) April 24-25, 2019 (English I/II/III) April 26 & 29, 2019 (Algebra I/II & Geometry) April 30, 2019 (Biology & Chemistry) May 1, 2019 (US History) state administration window is April 15 – May 5, 2019 Time varies by course, between 75- 230 minutes total time	The state mandatedTCAP Summative Assessments are operational in all areas. Thee tests are online. Click here for the state’s TCAP site.	Quick scores used for grades will be available before the end of the semester. Full reporting will be made available in the summer of 2019. Scores are used as 25% of the spring semester final average.
TNReady Summative Assessments for Grades 3-8	April 15-18, 2019 (ELA Writing) April 22, 2019 (ELA) April 23, 2017 (Math) April 24, 2019 (Science) May 25, 2019 (Social Studies) state administration window is April 15 – May 5, 2019 Time varies by subject/grade, between 50-230 minutes total time	The state-mandated TCAP Summative Assessments are operational in ELA, math, and science (social studies will be field tested this year). Testing will be paper/pencil in grades 3- 8. Click here for the state’s TCAP site.	Quick scores used for grades will be available before the end of the semester. Full reporting will be made available in the fall of 2019. Scores are used as 15% of the spring semester final average.
Spring Semester Exams (Finals) Grades 9-12 (course specific)	May 13-16, 2019 (seniors only) May 15-17 & 20-21, 2019 (all other students) district semester exam schedule Time varies by exam, typically between 45-120 minutes total time	All district mandatedsemester exams are teacher-constructed assessments and administered according to the school’s specific semester exam schedule.	Scores for these assessments are available on Skyward. Results are used as 25% of the grade in high school courses.

District Developed Math Benchmarks	At the end of each 9 weeks. Students are tested on-line through their math class. Each bench mark takes less than 45 minutes.	To enable teachers gather data to guide instruction.	Scores on these benchmarks are not used for a grade. These benchmark tests are used to help teachers help students become successful on high stakes testing.
